Fianna Dragonfly poured over her books, still thinking about how to arrange them in her new office. 'Perhaps I could ask Adoven about organization…’ the thought was fleeting and buried in her research.
The recent attacks by beast like men had sent her looking for answers, ones she wasn't sure she had. She was only a novice spell caster, but her propensity for research might prove the key to unlocking the vicious attack. She would rather be at the tavern enjoying company, but the responsibility she felt towards her people now would not allow her to leave until she had uncovered at least a small piece of information.

As he entered his now former office, he saw Fianna standing there deep in thought sorting through papers and other various tomes. He knocked on the side of the portal asking teasingly "May I enter oh feared spell caster?". He had developed a healthy friendship quickly with her only a few months before, and proved to be comically suited when talking to her. He crossed into the room, bowing as he did if only out of friendly respect from her new position… more so to elicit a humorous response.

Fianna Dragonfly flicked a piece of paper at Adoven, pushing a little magic into it so that it hit him in the face. "Dang right to fear me, you slinking scoundrel." She smiled and moved to set the books and papers in her arms onto the desk in the space.
"Are you here for something specific or can I avail upon your knowledge to solve some problems?"

Brushing off the paper from his nose, he quickly answered "That depends what you may need help on. What I do have are a very particular set of skills; skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you… at times." He smirked and picked up a tome of his ownership, putting it into his satchel, with a few scrolls and other odd trinkets, including a half-eaten sweet roll from his breakfast -discovered in one of the desk's many drawers-.

Fianna wrinkled her nose at the haphazard packing system of the previous Regent. "My worst nightmare looks like a rainbow covered pancake dancing the hokey-pokey. You had better be prepared to deliver on that treat."
She opened a few more drawers and placed more objects on the desk she was sure didn't belong to her. "Take your things, you thief. I don't think some of this belongs to you, either." At this she held up an object she didn't even want to name before dropping it quickly deciding she might not want to know.
"I was researching the recent attacks on our people, though since I was tending other things I have little enough information to go on. And my specialty is in working with plants and healing, not so much... unnatural things."

"Well I don't know about rainbows and pancakes, but I do assure you everything I am taking is of my ownership that I have used to better aid me in my officer duties." He looked at the odd things that Fianna was picking up and brushing aside, though they weren't his either.
"Well, that is where my specialties begin. If it be undead and otherworldly creatures and manifestations, I am your man- er, elf." He corrected, taking a journal out of his jacket as well as a pencil. "What specifically do you wish to know?" he inquired.

"I need to know why they are here. How to protect people from them. And what happened on the battle field? We may have driven the threat back, but I don't think it's gone. Those type never leave settled lands alone for long."
Fianna thought for a moment, "I suppose you'll have to fill me in on anything I can't think of myself. Though if this discussion is going to be very in depth we may want to gather more people for it. Coordination of the people involved will invariably lead to better solutions. Or drinking. We can always do with more drinking."

After scribing down a few notes and putting away his journal in his satchel, he hung his coat, hat and baggage on a nearby coatrack. He looked at the rows of bookshelves in the office and scratched one of his sideburns, a habit he was accustomed to doing while deep in thought. After a short time he announced "Ah… this should do nicely." He delicately picked out a small book and handed it delicately to Fianna; it was old, noted by the worn binding, yellowed pages, and cracking leather. There were no visible markings that distinguished it from any other book save for a small engraving of a hand holding a candle along the spine. "This is a basic guide to dark magic…" he informed her, brushing some of the dust off the cover. "While it may not contain everything you wish to know, it can give some help in starting your search. I fear we don't have an extensive amount of knowledge on the subject here in the shire, for which I believe we must travel to a more well-informed center. Perhaps we should bring this to the Sheriff's attention to organize a little trip to the Barony of Rhye." he explained as he sat down. "All I know of these creatures, these -what were they called, 'beastmen'?- is that they may be organizing in greater numbers deeper into the forest. I would suggest a scouting party be sent out to just confirm their location, and then to organize a strike to eradicate the threat from these lands" he said firmly with an edge in his voice. He did not like the unnatural creatures, and believed that their mere presence was filth sullying the Mother Tree's body.

Fianna handled the book gently, a mild look of disgust on her face. She didn't like the dark magics. They were disruptive to nature, to the natural flow as she had be taught. At least the book was only a guide and so not at fault.
"You'll have to talk to the Champion and Sheriff about the scouting party. But I think you are on the right track. We need to get rid of them before they get rid of us. Have you seen any of the other member's recently? I came straight through town to the office and have seen no one."

After checking on a commission with the blacksmith in the armoury, Ainvar reaches the Regent's Chambers. Hearing voices within, he stands in the threshold, scanning the room, and individuals inside. 'Adoven', he nods at the Elf. 'Fianna. I pray these chambers fit your liking? They are left wanting from the lodges and long houses we are accustomed to, but these stone walls will become familiar soon enough'. Ainvar enters the room, scents of stale parchment filing the air.

"Ah! Speak of the devil!" he greeted warmly "We were just about to inquire of you a subject I believe is of great importance to us all" he added, beginning to pack and smoke his pipe-weed. "Would you care to explain your inquiries Fianna?" he prompted the Regent.

Grinning at Ainvar, Fianna waved at the walls around her. "I don't feel like I could hold a proper brawl among all the books, but I'm happy that all the books have a safe place to stay. The lodges were no way to keep written knowledge, though this is a cold way to keep tradition next to our songs and stories of old."
She gestured at a table, set on the opposite side of the office from the desk just large enough to have four people sized people sit at it. "Good idea Adoven, and speaking of taking leisure, why do we not sit and discuss matters. It has been stressful of late."

The elf nodded, taking a match to light his pipe, flicking it out a nearby window. As he took a few puffs to commence smoking, he said aloud "In the interest of time, I would suggest that we at least commence what do do with the situation at hand. I suggested we may have a scouting party seek out the position of the beastmen filth, and then have the monarchy discuss the strategies from there on out." He paused for a short while, exhaling some of the smoke. "What say you, mine Sheriff?" he asked Ainvar.

Accepting the invitation to sit down, Ainvar begins loading his own pipe in agreement with Adoven. 'I know of these creatures. My father's father called them the Gor, Beastmen. Though only the Gods may reveal the reasons of their migration, we indeed must find out whether this was a mere warband, or the fringes of a larger herd. First we must seek out any river crossings thay may be comprised, then move southwest from where they came from.'

"If given your permission, I wish to organize a party to undertake this mission." Adoven asked after taking a long drag of his pipe. "Should we ask for assistance from the Barony?" the elf advised.
