Looking around in wonder at the hall she had not taken much not of, Fianna wondered how thier little shire had grown so well since she had left and come back. It was an amazing place, really. Spotting somebody who could help her, Fianna Dragonfly called out: "Hey boy, have you seen any of the other officers around?" to a young boy wearing the Locks colors. It would be faster to ask than to look for them individually.

With repairing his maille and going over reports finished, Ainvar steps into the Great Hall. Seeing Fianna, he approached her and clapped her on the shoulder. 'I salute you as a free person, and am relieved to see you returned, unscathed from you travels. Come, sit and have a drink'. Ainvar sat in the chair at the head of the table, motioning to a servant for a two mulled wines. 'Now, tell me of your travels, I wish to hear all you have seen'. Ainvar packs his pipe with dark, sweet pipeweed, and creating a decent ember.

"It is good to see you, my friend." Fianna Dragonfly followed Ainvar to the table. "The journey was long but well worth it. I helped to fight off a dragon in the lands around Gargoyles Gate. The people there are sturdy folk, they welcomed me and a fellow traveler I picked up along the way. Unfortunately, the traveler and I had to part ways before I made my way to Helstroms Hollow. You should have warned me at how populated the area is, and how hard to find. I was nearly lost three times!"
She accepted the wine gratefully when it arrived and drank. "I was overwhelmed by the boisterous attitude at Helstroms, I was not able to seek out the specific people you sent me to meet. But I have a promise from a large group of fighters. They will be here within a week to help us review our problems with these Gor." She spat the word Gor like it was mud in her mouth before taking another drink of the mulled wine.

Listening to her tale, he puffed on his pipe and exhaled a large cloud of smoke, before taking a drink of the wine. 'Apologies for not notifying you, but I was unaware of the population myself. I have only been to those lands as a small child, naturally my recollection is gravely limited. Excellent news though, I am arranging a search party for this creature, Puppy was it? Perhaps these people you spoke to will arrive in time to join us'. Ainvar takes another sip of the wine before continuing, 'I have gotten disturbing reports of a creature roaring deep within the wood, the common folk say the sounds seem to come from something far larger than the usual Gor that we have contended with. I have sought answers from the Gods while in the grove, but no visions have come to me. Only time may reveal what broods under the tree canopy'.

"Puppy was the one taken?" Fianna sat silent for a moment thinking. "I have faith in her ability to survive. This other news troubles me, though. I only hope we are not overrun by the beasts this time." She shuddered, "the thought of more powerful yet to come is frightening."

'Frighten not, we will prevail in victory, and if not, death is a mere doorway into the Otherworld. Indeed it was Puppy who they took, it is not hard to notice a half dog creature no longer gracing us with her presence'. Ainvar propped his feet upon the corner of the table. 'In four days time I intend to send a large party into the woods, and investigate this new threat, as well as an attempt to locate this Puppy. I advise you to sharpen your steel, and hone your magics. Both will be in great need'.

Grinning at the Sheriff, she replied in a lighter tone. "Trust you to be so positive about the whole situation. I'll be ready. Every day the magic I pull from grows, and these beast men will be no match for us when all our strength gathers.
"This conversation reminds me of something. Recently Red Lightning was trapped in meditation, he said that the forest is really sick and it stopped speaking to him. I don't think the timing is a coincidence."

'Aye it is, the Grove is well still, and there you may find strength from the Gods for your magic. Taranu won't allow these abominations to defile ourholy place. As much as I may cringe, the help of this Elf may be needed, if he is so willing'. Ainvar empties his pipe and reloads it, sparking an ember and inhaling deeply. 'I am disappointed our Champion, or Chancellor is not here to add their insight'.

"I'm sure they have their duties to attend to. They will be where they are most needed when the time comes. I think I shall take that advice, Sheriff. I will head to the Sacred Grove and meditate, I hope that some insight will grace me there." She stood and stretched slightly, "it will be a long week, I fear. May you run strong with the spirits of our Ancestors beside you, Ainvar."

Ainvar nods, stands, and claps his palm onto Fianna's forearm. 'Aye, I salute you as a free person, Fianna'. He puts his cloak on and made his way for the main entrance.

"Ainvar wait!" the tengu yelled as he came sprinting through the Hall. "Ainvar i need to know the truth. These documents show that the missing girl is in fact, Puppy. Tell you've seen her.... Please..." Looks of vengance and desperation burned across the bird-folk's face as he asked his question.

While holding the massive door handle, Ainvar looks back to Scarecrow, 'aye, your fears are true'. He turns back facing the door, and exits.

"I'm sorry Scarecrow, I just heard myself. The best thing to do is to trust in Puppy's ability to survive. I'm off to make myself useful. Fast feet to you, my friend." Fianna Dragonfly said to the other as she, too, left the hall.

The bird-folk looked down at his hands, he had failed to protect his closest ally...
... ... "They will pay."
Scarecrow then quickly bolted after the others
