Ainvar emerged on to the southern wall, resting his hands on the cold limestone in front of him. The sky was blanketed with grey clouds, he looked past the river to the wilderness beyond. The faint sound of drums could be heard in the far distance, a sound not uncommon ever since the Gor pushed north through the forest. Camp smoke could be seen drifting above the tree line in the southwest. Ainvar gripped the dagger on his belt, wondering about the things to come.

It was a breathless boy who finally found the sheriff. He had asked all over and been directed to two different rooms before a guard had finally said that the Sheriff was on the walls. Approching the man, who was much bigger than him, the boy felt no nervousness. It was well known who had helped protect thier lands for a long while now.
"Sir? I've a message fo you from the ol' regent. 'e sent me from the docks ta tell ya."

Ainvar turned to the boy, removing the hood of his cloak, his hand still firm on his dagger's hilt. 'Speak, boy. What news do you bring?'.

'Inform the scout, other than the deceased, all citizens are accounted for save for the creature known as Puppy. She was kidnapped by the Gor, and we need to gather information on her whereabouts. Perhaps we can mount a search party before it is too late'. Ainvar pats the boy on the shoulder as he turned back to the forest.
