Chains. That was her only form of a rattle as an infant. Born as a slave, being traded and treated as property was the world she grew up in. Depending on her master's fancy at the time they would give her odd, laughable names or stick to the slurs of calling her their pet dog. By the time she was 10, she wasn't sure what her name was. Her existence, her identity was The Slave Dog-Girl. As she was sold and traded, she didn't see other fur or animal folk like her around. If on the off chance she did see one they were usually slaves like her: nameless property.
She was the perfect slave. Spirit broken, never tried running off, you could do anything to her and she would still obey. One morning, it was quite. Nobody had woke her up, no one was around to be seen. Humans, just gone. As she sat up stretching her shackles and collar slipped off, as if left too lose. Not really knowing what else to do, she walked. A feeling of being lost, numb swept over her. Being a slave for humans her entire life, she wasn't too keen on staying in or near there houses so she kept walking. Soon she was walking down the main road though town, leaving the rich district and towards the city gates. Upon seeing the city gates she stopped. Being free to leave was an amazing gift, if not an unreal dream but she couldn't do it. Where would she go? She knew nothing of the wilds or travel roads. After standing there for a while the guards posted at the gate started to take note of her, staring. Panic started flowing through her body as she saw the guards staring, talking, and motioning at her. NO! She wasn't going back, never! Just as the guard started making his way over, she ducked into a side ally way running, crouching, and weaving in between houses. She stopped, sat next to a beggar, and started asking for spare change like he was. The beggar glared, but didn't really bother her.
She counted to 100, still no guards. Figuring it was safe, she got back up to wonder the streets. Life still wasn't going to be easy just wandering the poor district. She thought about joining a caravan to get out of the city and learn what else was out there. Staying as close to the gate as possible, she watched the coming and going of the people. Any group that was leaving that she thought about joining (or following) was entirely human. Not liking that idea much, she waiting. Waiting and watching for two days ready to give up; content to die of starvation in the streets. Eyes were glazed over, just staring at her lap when a loaf of bread dropped in it from no where. She looking up to seen man/bird/tengu type person staring at her. Giving a sincere but creepy smile he says, "Don't eat it all at once" and walks off. Now stuck in a new trance of "what just happened", she watched the tengu man walk out the gates of the city. Without a second thought she hopped up, began tearing into the bread, and following this strange man out of the city.
Sense that moment I have not left Scarecrow's side sense, traveling to different lands. Growing up in the city as a slave gave me skills as a thief and later to be trained as an assassin; though I prefer not to fight at all. I am called Puppy as a sign of endearment from Scarecrow and those I'm close to, but my name is Inugami.
