Adoven Leoros Bloodwynd, elven Ranger of the Locks, had just finished having his horse saddled, and departed for the wharf to hire out a ferryman to take him and his horse across the river. Reserving a boatsman and boat to be used later at midday, he turned to leave the site, reedy to gather his weapons. Although there was no evidence to suggest otherwise, he felt a presence nearby, though perhaps it was just a passing feeling.

"And where might you be going, so far across the river, all by yourself?" said Scarecrow, stepping out of the shadows to greet his compatriot with a wide devilish grin. "something to do with beastmen, and alerting the townsfolk if I had to guess."

With a sudden spin and adroitness Adoven produced a dagger. Upon realizing who it was however, he sighed and put it away. "You need to find a better way to spend your time other than spooking me" the elf half-joked "But yes you are correct. Would you care to help in this endeavor?"

"You truly think the 2 of us can do this alone?" Scarecrow pondered aloud. "but yes, I do feel so inclined to help you out. This is my home after all. Speaking of which, have you seen Puppy? She hasn't been seen around anywhere, and frankly I'm getting worried..." the Tengu questioned, while scratching at his neck.

::in a flash of light with only a utterance of "I return to the physical world" Nocturnus appears with a raptor in tow. He is dressed for combat, even having his chain, obviously ready for anything to come::
Nocturnus: "I was told by a little boy you would be here, and I heard from a few people from my side of the pond issues arose, so I came to help. Granted, I likely travel faster than most, but I figured I would come as soon as I could. So, what can I do to help? I do enjoy slaying things, and as two of my kinsman where attacked fairly badly in what happened, there will be blood."

"I have not seen her anywhere Shadow-walker. Perhaps she may have ventured into town?" he offered in suggestion to Scarecrow. "Egads Nocturnus! When did you get in town?! But aye it's true, I am just about to head back towards the keep to pick up my equipment and horse. I am honored you have decided to accompany us." he told the veteran warrior, slightly bowing.

::Nocturnus bows::
"No need to bow, I still work for a living, and you earned your dragon just like I did. You are a brother, not a servant, though we are all servants to those in need. Magic helps with travel, so it made my trip fast. When the Wild Elves send an animal to tell me that some big stupid beasts just kidnapped a girl and put a hurt on you guys here, it was only a matter of time before I came. I will be sending back a direct communication to Harbour to send reinforcements if needed. I am here now to assess the situation and make plans on a correct course of action to take to give us a tactical advantage. I would ask for Garret to come help find the girl, but I figured you where also a good scout to hunt if needed for her. Does anyone know who it is that is missing?"

"Aye, you do me much honor Sheild-Brother, I am humbled. Indeed we shall do well to prepare for the upcoming events to unfold… the Mother Tree has much to tell, but so few listen to Her whispers." He commented. "Well we are not sure currently who the person in question is… but Scarecrow, did you not say Puppy was missing?" He inquired of the Tengu.

"Mother tree? Where is this tree, and why have I never heard of it?"

The ranger explained to Nocturnus "She is everywhere and all around us. The earth is Her foot, the rivers Her tears, the grass Her hair and the trees and fruits they bare Her children and gifts to us. She is called by many names, to include the World Tree by some Humans, but to most others she is simply called Gaia. It is through Her the Gift of Life is possible, and many have sought Her council through Her children and emissaries; in other words, the plants and wild beasts that roam the land. If one listens enough, they may hear Her Will, guiding us to protect the sanctity of Her Gift." The elf smiled wistfully as he continued "That is probably the most poetic I can make that out to be, as I am no druid or shaman. But you may have heard Her my friend, you just may not have realized it."

"Yes she is missing, but I wouldn't rush to any conclusions... This does worry me though. Has anyone spoke to Ainvar about this? I heard he had a large part in the battle. Perhaps we should consult with him, and see if we can't get anymore information."

"Ah yes, the Great Mother. While I am a druid, faith does not mean as much to me. It used to, but the gods have proven to be fickle, and do as they will, so I did stop following her, and the others, and trusting in myself and those I can see. I see the grass, and the trees, I hear them speak, and feel their pain and happiness. The river always runs, and refreshes me, the wind always blows, and brings a cool breeze. Is that the will of the gods, or maybe it is the will of man on the world. Maybe if enough people believe it will happen, it does."

"Aye shield-brother." He replied. "I agree with that, though I shall be setting off to scout on ahead of the position of the beastmen." He spat at the word. "But I will send a message to him." he added, and shouted at a street urchin to come close. "Can you deliver a message? Tell the Sheriff that the Ranger suggests a census of the population because of the recent events. He'll know what I mean. Can you do that boy?" he requested, making sure the young ragamuffin understood.

"Whas in'et for me?" the boy said, scratching his dirty mop of hair while looking suspiciously at the stranger that Adoven had with him. "I cahn do et, jus wanna know." He spoke directly to Adoven now, deciding that if the stranger was with the old regent he was safe enough. The strange looking fellow's {{Scarecrow}} gaze unsettled him, but he ignored that too having seen the man around town a bit.

The elf flipped a gold coin. "Get yourself a nice meal and room for the night, and say it's from me. I trust you are as swift as a deer?" he encouraged, ruffling the young human's hair playfully as he began to head back towards the Keep to retrieve his belongings. "I will be back Nocturnus and Scarecrow, I will be but a minute." he told the pair, walking briskly.
